SECTION 4 - EXAMPLE APPLICATIONS

Separation and elution of common anions on the IonPac Fast Anion Analytical Column has been optimized utilizing a specific
carbonate/bicarbonate eluent. Both monovalent and divalent anions are eluted in less than three minutes based on the concentration
and proportions of sodium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate. The Suppressor reaction product is carbonic acid (H

chromatographer to easily and precisely prepare large volumes of eluent while at the same time using a minimum amount of storage
space.
Since the IonPac Fast Anion Column is susceptible to irreversible damage from eluents with pH outside the range of 2 and 11, the
100X eluent concentrate is also recommended for column cleanup (see, "Column Care").

4.1.1 Preparation Of 100x Eluent Concentrates - 0.5 M Na

A 100X concentrate can be made from either reagent grade chemicals or from DIONEX eluent concentrates.
Do not use hydroxide to adjust the pH of the eluent in order to adjust the ion exchange selectivity of the system. Using
hydroxide in the eluent may cause irreversible damage to the IonPac Fast Anion Analytical Column.

USING DIONEX ELUENT CONCENTRATES
It is possible to dilute the DIONEX 0.5 M Na

may be difficult to achieve from one dilution to the next. For the sake of precision and ease of preparation, DIONEX
recommends that the 100X eluent concentrates be prepared from the 0.5 M concentrates for use in making the eluents
