5.4 Failure removal
Failure
Current value
≥ 22 mA
Capacitive electrodes EL 4 ... 20 mA - compact
Measure, failure removal
Check the sensor inputs on the following failures:
- shortcircuit on the input
- sensor not correctly connected
- sensor line interrupted
- supply voltage too low or too high
Measure the current on the connection line to the sensor.
The terminal voltage on the sensor in standard condition is at least 12 V.

Note with Ex-systems that the Ex-protection is not influenced by
the measuring instruments.
Current value > 22 mA
- Check all connections and the connection line to the sensor.
- Loosen the two small screws with a screwdriver and remove the
oscillator out of the plug connection.
- Measure the current.
•
When the current value remains > 22 mA, the oscillator is defect.
Exchange the oscillator.
•
When the current value is < 22 mA, the electrode is defect. Return
the electrode for repair.
