Trailer Nose Load
• Excessive trailer nose load reduces front tyre traction and steering control. Too
little trailer nose load can make the trailer unstable and cause it to sway.
• To achieve a proper trailer nose load, start by loading 60% of the load toward the
front of the trailer and 40% toward the rear. Readjust the load as needed.
■
Trailer Nose load
The trailer nose load should never exceed 100
kg (220 lbs). This is the amount of weight the
trailer puts on the towbar when it is fully-
loaded. As a rule of thumb for trailer weights
of less than 1,000 kg (2,205 lbs), the trailer
nose load should be 10 percent of the total
trailer package.
