FIGURE 2-14: Battery access
Refer to the service manual for complete service instructions to ensure an extended battery life
span. The daily maintenance checks needed are;
1. Check the battery fluid level daily, especially if the machine is being used in a warm, dry cli-
mate.
2. Keep the terminals and the top of the batteries clean.

BATTERY CHARGING

1. Check the battery fluid level. If the battery fluid level is lower than 10 mm (0.375 in.) above the
plates, add distilled water only.
2. Connect an extension cord (1.5mm
maximum length) to the charger plug located at the left side of the chassis.

Charge the batteries in a well ventilated area. DO NOT charge the batteries when the machine is near a source of
sparks or ames. Permanent damage to the batteries will result if the batteries are not immediately re-charged after
discharging. NEVER leave the battery charger operating for more than two days. Never disconnect the cables from
the batteries when the charger is operating. Keep the charger dry.
