7.1. Appendix A – Software Upgrades
7.1.1. U
PGRADING
Software up-grade files may be provided, by e-mail, compact disc or from our FTP site
(ftp://ftp.vislink.com/) for transfer onto a USB memory device.
Note that combined MP3 player/memory sticks are not compatible with the unit, and ensure that
only one up-grade file is present on the USB stick.
7.1.1.1.
Copy upgrade file onto USB memory stick
Insert USB memory stick into front panel connector of the unit
Power up unit (recycle if already on)
The front panel display will indicate "Upgrade Started", followed by information regarding
which parts of the unit are being upgraded
On successful completion the front panel will display "Upgrade Completed Remove USB stick
and power-cycle"
In the event "Upgrade failed" is displayed, an error code will also be displayed:
B1 – Error upgrading unit – retry upgrade procedure
B2 – Factory upgrade only – unit software too old
A4 – Kernel version too old – contact factory
Bx – Unknown error in upgrade – retry upgrade
Ax – Boot error – contact factory for back to base upgrade
7.1.2. U
PGRADING
To upgrade the encoder an executable file will be supplied that must be stored on the SD card
located on the rear panel. To perform the upgrade, the card should be removed from the unit and
accessed from a PC. The new executable should then be copied onto the card and run, after which
the card should be returned to the unit where it will perform the upgrade. In all instances, the
executable supplied on the SD card must be run from the card itself in order that the files are
created and stored in the correct place.
