Creating a NIC Team

Since the NICs and HBAs are seen as separate ports, we can treat them as separate entities and create
a NIC team with the virtual CNA NICs. To configure a NIC team on our two virtual NIC ports, click the
'Filter' drop-down box on the top left of the 'Broadcom Advanced Control Suite 4' GUI and select
'TEAM VIEW'. Right click 'Teams' and select 'Create Team'. Click 'Next'. Name your NIC Team if desired
and click 'Next'; in our case, we leave it as the default of "Team 1". Now you should see the options as
displayed in Figure 81 below.

In Figure 81 above, you can see we NIC team using 'Smart Load Balancing™ and Failover (SLB)". We
configure active-standby links for LAN up to the S5000 switches. Note, the switch will not be aware of
the NIC team and no LAG configuration will be required on upstream switches.
