Dell Networking S5000: Deployment of a Converged Infrastructure with FCoE
Note, it is not necessary to use only the 40 GbE links to the downstream MXL/IOA as shown in the
following diagrams. If it is planned to have multiple M1000e chassis connecting to the S5000, it
would be preferred to use a 40 GbE QSPF+ to 4 x 10 GbE breakout cable from the MXL/IOA to the
S5000. This would provide for better scalability without running out of 40 GbE ports and leaves the
40 GbE ports on the S5000 available for future expansion or additional upstream bandwidth.
