TROUBLESHOOTING AND MAINTENANCE
This chapter describes common operational problems and their solutions, error and status mes-
sages, and maintenance procedures. If further assistance is needed after following the procedures
in this chapter, contact a Micromeritics Service Representative.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Operating problems encountered with the pycnometer are usually easily corrected. Typical prob-
lems and the steps required to correct them are described in the following table.
Unit does not work
when power switch is
turned on.

Power cord not fully inserted
at one end or the other.
No power at outlet.
Plug prongs bent so that con-
tact not made at outlet.
Power cord damaged.
Wrong voltage selected.
Insert power plug firmly into
outlet socket; insert unit con-
nector firmly into power con-
nector opening.
Plug in lamp or small appli-
ance to test outlet. If there is
no power, contact electrician.
Wiggle power plug at outlet
while watching display. If dis-
play comes on, have electri-
cian adjust prongs or replace
outlet or plug.
Have electrician check cord
using test meter. Replace
if
defective.
Unplug unit. Check voltage
selection board. If wrong volt-
age selected. correct the volt-
age and re-insert board.
