Troubleshooting

Problem
No sound/video is
produced.
No sound/video is
produced via the
[HDMI] terminal.

Possible cause
Improper connection.
Headphones are connected.
A disc/file recorded in a format
incompatible with the main
unit/TV is played back.
The connected TV is not
compatible with HDCP.
The main unit fails to
recognize the TV connected to
the [HDMI] terminal.
An HDMI cable longer than 5
m (15 feet) is used.
The disc is upside down.
Moisture has condensed on
the lens.
The disc is scratched or dirty. Clean or replace the disc.
The proportion of the picture is
not appropriate.
No antenna is connected.
The main unit is located close
to a TV, computer, or other
electric appliance.
If "TRAY LOCK" appears in
the display window, disc
ejection has been locked.
The unit may be faulty.
The remote control batteries
are running low.
The remote control mode
selector on the remote control
is slid to [TV] or [STB/VCR].
The connected TV is not
compatible with the HDMI
CEC function.
"OFF" is selected for the
"CONTROL WITH HDMI"
setting.
Possible solution
Connect all cables properly.
Disconnect the headphone plug.
Confirm the playable disc/file types.
Connect a TV compatible with HDCP.
Disconnect the HDMI cable and connect it
again.
Use an HDMI cable of 5 m (15 feet) or
shorter to assure stable operation and
picture quality.
Place the disc on the disc tray with the
printed surface facing up.
Leave the main unit turned on, wait for
approximately 1 or 2 hours, and then
operate the main unit.
Connect the TV to the SCART terminal,
and select the video signal type and the
monitor out type.
Connect an antenna.
Place the main unit away from a TV,
computer, or other electric appliance.
Cancel the disc ejection lock.
Follow steps 1 and 2 below.
1. Press [A] on the main unit for 5
seconds to forcibly turn off the power.
2. Press [W] and [M] on the main unit for
5 seconds.
This will eject the tray.
Replace the batteries with new batteries.
Slide the remote control mode selector to
[AUDIO].
Refer to the operation manual of the TV.
Select "ON1" or "ON2" for the "CONTROL
WITH HDMI" setting.
