CHAPTER 5: SETTINGS
5.7.6.6 Loss of life
SETTINGS  GROUPED ELEMENTS  SETTING GROUP 1(6)  TRANSFORMER  LOSS OF LIFE
 LOSS OF LIFE
The Loss of Life element detects the accumulated total consumed transformer life. This element can be set to issue an
alarm or trip when the actual accumulated transformer life becomes larger than the user-specified loss of life pickup
value. For new transformers installations, set the
transformers, pre-determine the consumed transformer life in hours.
— Enter a setting for the consumed transformer life in hours. When the Loss of Life element is
LOSS OF LIFE INITIAL VALUE
enabled, the computed loss of life is added to the initial loss of life.
— Enter the expended life, in hours, required for operation of the element. Set this setting above the
LOSS OF LIFE PICKUP
total transformer life set as a reference based on nominal loading conditions and a 30°C ambient temperature, as outlined
in the IEEE standards.
