Some Lexmark printers are capable of sending
information back to the computer across the parallel
interface. These printers support two communication
modes which allow status messages to be sent back to
the computer.
• Byte Mode - The printer sends data to the
computer one byte at a time.
• Nibble Mode - The printer sends data to the
computer half byte at a time.
