During printing, paper is held flat against the mid frame
assembly (5) by several small steel rollers mounted
into the small feed roll assembly (4) and pressing
against the large feed roller (6). Holding the paper flat
maintains proper printhead to paper clearance.
After printing, the paper is driven out of the printer
paper path by the mid frame exit roll (5) and the large
feed roll (6).
We have shown you two major types of paper feed
assemblies used to feed paper through Lexmark inkjet
printers. Your printer may contain identical components
or some combination of the two designs.
If you removed any paper feed components from your
machine during this lesson, reinstall the components
and make any necessary adjustments.
Make sure your printer will feed paper before
continuing to the print process lesson.
