5.4

Lifting the wheelchair

The wheelchair can be lifted and transported in many
different ways. However it is advisable to fold the
wheelchair down to facilitate these actions.
In order to reduce weight, remove the rear wheels (see
chapter 5.5 "Quick release rear wheels") and close the
backrest (see chapter 5.2 "Closing the backrest). In
order to have greater balance while lifting the wheelchair,
take hold of it on the front frame and on the backrest (see
fig. 33).

5.5 Quick release rear wheels
On this model it is possible to remove the rear wheels quickly and
easily, thereby reducing the size of the wheelchair. This can be
particularly useful when the wheelchair needs to be loaded into a
car or place for storage or driven through a narrow passageway if
the wheelchair is provided with transit wheels (see chapter 7.2
"Transit wheels").

Release the brakes
To make this procedure easier, slightly raise the wheel using
the handles on the back.
Take hold of the wheel by the spokes close to the axel bush,
push the release button in and, without letting go, pull the
