5. APPLICATIONS
5.1 Data Acquisition
1. External I/O (Front Panel)
Using the IPA system as a stand-alone amplifier with an external data acquisition
system.
Command In
This allows you to stimulate the IPA preparation from other equipment.
An external analog command signal is passed to the internal StimOUT channel
and sent to the headstage. The external signal is added to the StimOUT signal
before they are sent to the headstage. The Command In signal bypasses the
IPA digitizer D/A conversion.
Scope – Signal Output
This allows you to monitor the IPA preparation with other equipment.
The analog response from the headstage (current in voltage-clamp mode, and
voltage in current-clamp mode) is directly available on this BNC, and can be
sent to an external data acquisition system for digitization.
Scope –Command Monitor
This allows you to monitor the IPA stimulus with other equipment.
The analog stimulus delivered to the IPA headstage (voltage or current) is
directly available on this BNC, and can be sent to an external data acquisition
system for digitization.
2. External I/O (Rear Panel)
Using the IPA system as a standalone data acquisition system with external
instruments.
Auxiliary I/O
The two rear panel auxiliary analog output channels (AuxOUT#) can be used to
send stimulus waveforms to external instruments, such as microelectrode
amplifiers.
The four auxiliary analog input channels (AuxIN#) can be used to digitize
signals from other external instruments, such as microelectrode amplifiers.
