    To switch on, press on/off key for more than 0.5 seconds. Ÿ To switch off, press and hold on/off key until the screen blanks.   • Page 8 Mode. Selecting the Measurement Units (T) Whilst the Elcometer 130 Model S provides readings in µg/cm , the Model T has a choice of measurement units: µg/cm ,mg/m , µS/cm, mS/cm, ppm and % Salinity. To select the measurement units (T), press Menu/Setup/Units.

  • Page 10 Failure to thoroughly clean the measurement electrodes between tests may contaminate subsequent tests and result in inaccurate readings. The Elcometer 130 measurement electrodes are gold plated to prevent corrosion and oxidisation, prolonging the life and accuracy of the gauge. They should only be cleaned using pure water and the sensor wipes supplied.

    Failure to thoroughly clean the measurement electrodes and syringe between tests may contaminate subsequent tests and result in inaccurate readings. The Elcometer 130 measurement electrodes are gold plated to prevent corrosion and oxidisation, prolonging the life and accuracy of the gauge. They should only be cleaned using pure water and the sensor wipes supplied.

    5 VERIFYING THE GAUGE CALIBRATION The Elcometer 130 is factory calibrated and can not be calibrated by the user. It is possible, however, to check that the gauge is measuring correctly by using the optional Calibration Verification Tiles, sales part number T13023980.

  • Page 16 Downloading Data. Two Minute Timer The wetted filter paper should be left on the surface under test for 2 minutes. The Elcometer 130 has a built in, optional timer for this purpose. To enable the timer, press Menu/Setup/Timer. When enabled, the left softkey is labelled “Timer”.
  • Page 17 Temperature Compensation (T) The temperature of the substrate and water solution will affect the reading. As the Elcometer 130 has been calibrated at 25°C, to provide an accurate measurement of soluble salt levels the reading must be adjusted to take into consideration any temperature variance.

  • Page 20 Once the appropriate time and date has been set (Menu/Setup/Time and Date), the user can display the time and date at the top of the Elcometer 130 display via Menu/Setup/Time and Date/Display Time and Date. The time format can be set to either the 12 hour or 24 hour clock via Ÿ...
  • Page 21 During the inspection process surfaces can often have specified maximum levels of soluble salts. Users can program an upper warning limit into the Elcometer 130 gauge by selecting Menu/Set Limits/Set Upper. To switch the limit on, the user should ensure that the Enable Limits radio button is checked.

    Batching: Where readings are stored into memory in batches. Batches allow the user to collate readings for easier analysis of large structures. The Elcometer 130 Model T gauge can store a total of 150,000 readings in up to 2,500 batches and has the following batching functions: Create a new batch;...

  • Page 24 To open a particular batch use the up and down arrow softkeys and select the appropriate batch. The Elcometer 130 will return the gauge to the main reading screen and the selected batch name will be shown at the top of the display (together with a unique gauge batch id number - allowing no two batches to have exactly the same name).
