Updating to Windows Me or 98

If you have upgraded your computer's operating system from
Windows 95 to Windows Me or 98, you must uninstall your
printer software and then install it again. See "Uninstalling the
printer driver" on page 295 for instructions.
Updating the printer software in Windows XP, Me,
2000 or NT 4.0
When you update the printer software in Windows XP, Me, 2000
or NT 4.0 please be sure to uninstall the previous printer software
before you install the new software. Installing over the existing
printer software results in a failure to update. See "Uninstalling
the printer driver" on page 295 for details on uninstalling the
printer software.

Uninstalling the printer driver

For Windows
Note:
To uninstall software programs in Windows 2000/NT 4.0, it is
necessary to log on as a user with administrative privileges (a user
who belongs to the Administrators group).
To uninstall software programs in Windows XP, it is necessary to
log on with a Computer Administrator account. You cannot
uninstall software programs if you log on as a Limited account user.
1. Turn off the printer and disconnect the cable from the printer.
2. For Windows Me, 2000, NT 4.0, 98 and 95 users, click the Start
button and select Settings, then choose Control Panel.
