This chapter provides instructions for maintaining the NetIron CES and CER 2000 Series devices.
WARNING: The procedures in this manual are for qualified service personnel.
Hardware Maintenance Schedule
The NetIron CES 2000 Series switch requires minimal maintenance for its hardware components. Brocade
recommends cleaning the fiber-optic connectors on a fiber-optic port and the connected fiber cable each time you
disconnect the cable.
Otherwise, you can install or replace the following hardware components as needed:
Copper and fiber optic modules
Power supplies
Fan tray
2 x10-Gigabit Ethernet module (only on the NetIron CES 2024C and NetIron CES 2024F models).

Replacing a Power Supply

You can replace a power supply while the NetIron CES 2000 Series switch is powered on and running. The power
supplies are located in slots at the rear of the NetIron CES 2000 Series switch.
This section provides information about the following topics:
Installation precautions and warnings
Determining which power supply has failed, if necessary.
Replacing a power supply.
WARNING: Power supplies are hot swappable. However, Brocade recommends that you disconnect the power
supply from AC power before installing or removing the supply. The device can be running while a power supply is
being installed or removed, but the power supply itself should not be connected to a power source. Otherwise, you
could be injured or the power supply or other parts of the device could be damaged.
