The NetIron CES 2000 Series switch offers network planners a broad set of high performance IPv4, Classic Layer 2, Provider Bridge (PB) and Provider Backbone Bridge (PBB) functionalities in the same device.

    To convert your NetIron CES 2000 Series, you need an upgrade kit. The kit includes a Dual Inline Package (DIP) key, Multi-Service IronWare software, upgrade instructions, and other items. Alternatively, you can order an NetIron CES 2000 Series device with the ME_PROM or the L3_PROM software already installed.

    This section describes the port types in the NetIron CES 2000 Series. 10/100/1000 Mbps Ports The 100/1000 ports on the NetIron CES 2000 Series use auto-sensing and auto-negotiating to determine the speed (10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, or 1000 Mbps) and duplex mode (full-duplex or half-duplex) of the port at the other end of the link and adjust port speed accordingly.

The fans in the NetIron CES Series switches include six four-speed fans that operate at low speed, medium speed, medium-high speed, and high speed based on the ambient temperature and configured or default temperature thresholds.

To secure CLI access, Brocade strongly recommends assigning passwords. (For additional information on security, see the Foundry Security Guide.)
