In SAN Volume Controller, the function that occurs when one redundant
part of the system takes over the workload of another part of the system
that has failed.
A technology for transmitting data between computer devices at a data rate
of up to 4 Gbps. It is especially suited for attaching computer servers to
shared storage devices and for interconnecting storage controllers and
drives.

An interface module that converts the light stream from a fibre-channel
cable into electronic signals for use by the network interface card.

In SAN Volume Controller, an interface card that connects a host bus, such
as a peripheral component interconnect (PCI) bus, to the storage area
network.
In SAN Volume Controller, a numeric identifier assigned to a group of host
fibre-channel ports for the purpose of logical unit number (LUN) mapping.
For each host ID, there is a separate mapping of Small Computer System
Interface (SCSI) IDs to virtual disks (VDisks).
A zone defined in the storage area network (SAN) fabric in which the hosts
can address the SAN Volume Controllers.
