Before removing the fingerprint reader board, follow these steps:
1. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4. Remove the following components:
a. Service door (see

d. Hard drive(s) and internal frame (see
e. Smart card frame and smart card reader (see
Remove the fingerprint reader board:
1. Remove the Phillips screw (1) that secures the fingerprint reader board bracket to the computer.
2. Lift the bracket up (2) and then slide the bracket off the fingerprint reader (3).
3. Open the ZIF connector (4) on the system board to release the fingerprint reader cable.
4. Carefully lift the ribbon cable (5) to release it from adhesive securing it to the computer.
