Removing the lower unit

1. Drain the gear oil.
2. Remove the propeller and trim tab. See
steps 2–6 in "Removing the lower unit"
(8-3).
3. Remove the lower unit and extension.

TIP:
When disassembling the lower unit, measure
the backlash before disassembly. See "Mea-
suring the forward gear backlash and reverse
gear backlash before disassembly" (8-69).
