WARNING
Only switch ESP sport mode on when your
driving abilities and the traffic situation
permit. Please note that the driving
wheels can spin and the vehicle can break
away in ESP sport mode, especially when
the road is slippery.
ESP turns on outomotically when you stort
the engine.
Applies ta vehicles: TI R5 Coupe
to take risks. Doing

will increase the
risk of a loss of vehicle control, collision
and serious personal injuries.
- ALways adapt your speed to road, traffic
and weather conditions. The risk of Los-
ing control of the vehicle increases when
driving too fast, especially through
curves and on slippery or wet roads, and
when driving too close ta vehicles up
ahead. ESP, ABS, the brake assist system,
EDL and ASR cannat prevent collisions.
- Always accelerate with special care on
even, smooth surfaces such as those that
are wet or covered with ice and snow.
The drive wheels can spin even with
these assistance systems that cannot al-
ways help ta reduce the risk of loss of ve-
hicle control.

Tips
- ABS and ASR only work correctLy when
all four wheels are equipped with identi-
cal tires. Different tire sizes can Lead to a
reduction in engine power.
- You may hear noises when the systems
described are working.

Brake assist system
The brake assist system can decrease braking
distance. lt increases braking power when the
driver presses the brake pedaL quickly in emer-
gency situations. You must press and hold the
brake pedal until the situation is over.
ELectronic differentiaL Lock (EDL)
switched on all the time. In certain situations
when you need less traction, you can switch
off ESP by pressing the button
[!J.
Be sure to
switch ESP on again when you no longer need
less traction.
.&.
WARNING
- ESP, ABS, ASR and EDL cannot overcome
the laws of physics. This is especially im-
portant on slippery or wet roads. If the
systems begin acting to stabilize your ve-
hicle, you shouLd immediately change
your speed to match the road and traffic
conditions. Do not let the increased safe-
ty provided by these systems tempt you
Anti-sLip reguLation (ASR)
ASR reduces engine power when the drive
wheels begin to spin and adapts the force to
the road conditions. This makes it easier to
start, accelerate and drive up hills.
Anti-Lock braking system (ABS)
ABS prevents the wheels from locking up
when braking. The vehicle can still be steered
even during hard braking. Apply steady pres-
sure to the brake pedalo Do not pump the ped-
alo A pulsing in the brake pedal indicates that
the system is helping you to brake the vehicle.
The EDL brakes wheels that are spinning and
transfers the drive power to the other drive
wheel or wheels if the vehicle is equipped with
all-wheeL drive". This function is availabLe up
to about 60 mph (100 km/hl.
In extreme cases, EDL automatically switches
off to help keep the brake on the braked wheel
from overheating. EDL will switch on again au-
tomatically when conditions have returned to
normal.
