Description

gram appears in the display.
The efficiency program can help you to use
less fuel.
It
evaluates driving information in
reference to fuel consumption and shows oth-
er equipment influencing consumption as well
as shift recommendations. Fuel economy
messages q page 28 provide tips for effi-
cient driving.
The efficiency program uses distance and con-
sumption data from trip computer 1. If the
data are deleted in the efficiency program,
those values are also reset in trip computer 1.

In the efficiency program, press the func-
tion selection switch qpage 25, fig. 10@
repeatedly until the other equipment ap-
pears in the display.
Other equipment that is currently affecting
fuel consumption is listed in the efficiency
program. The display shows up to three other
items of equipment@. The equipment using
the most fuel is listed first. If more than three
items using fuel are switched on, the equip-
ment that is currently using the most fuel is
displayed.
A scale@also shows the current total con-
sumption of all other equipment.
Fuel economy messages

Fuel economy messages are displayed when
fuel consumption is increased by certain con-
ditions. Ifyou follow these fuel economy mes-
sages, you can reduce your vehicle's consump-
tion offuel. The messag;!s appear automati-

cally and are only displayed in the efficiency
program. The fuel economy messages turn off
automatically after a certain period of time.

To turn a fuel economy message off imme-
diately after it appears, press the
IRE5ETI
button qpage25, fig.10@,or

Press the function selection switch

Tips
- Once you have turned a fuel economy
message off, it will only appear again af-
ter you turn the ignition on again.

_ The fuel economy messages are not dis-
played in every instance, but rather in in-
tervals over a period of time.
Service intervaL dispLay
The service intervaL dispLay reminds you when
yaur next service is due.

The service interval display determines when
a service procedure is needed for your vehicle.
It operates in two stages:
- Service reminder: Before reaching a service
event, this message appears briefly when
you switch on the ignition: Dil change in
1230 mi (2000 km) 150 days.
- Service event: When the date for service is
reached, the message Dil change! appears.
It
is accompanied by an audible signal.
Display remaining distance
By briefly pulling the knob,

fig. 3, the distance/time remaining to the
next service date is displayed with the ignition
on. The distance/time remaining is updated
every 300 miles (500 km).
If the distance/time remaining is called up on
new vehicles or after service has been per-
formed, the due date is always shown in the
display with Dil change in ----- mi (km)---
days within the first 300 miles (500 km).
Ta reset the display
The dealership performing the service resets
the display when the service has been com-
pleted. The display is resets as follows:
- Switch the ignition on.

- Pull the knob

sage appears: Dil change!
- Pull the knob until the display Dil change in
----- mi (km)--- days appears in the display.
If the reset button is not pulled within 5
seconds, the display reset mode closes.
Tips
- If a malfunction is present (red symbol),
the distance remaining cannot be called
up.
- Do not reset the display between service
intervals. Doing so will result in an incor-
rect display.
- If the battery is disconnected, the Serv-
ice Interval Display values are retained.
- If service was not performed at the cor-
rect time or the service interval display
was not reset after service was per-
formed, the additional mileage driven or
the elapsed days will be shown as nega-
tive numbers.
Boost and engine oiL

With the ignition switched on, press the
button -arrow- repeatedly until the display
is shown.
Boost pressure indicator (boost)
A bar graph that begins on the left and fills in
toward the right indicates the engine's cur-
rent load (meaning the current boost pres-
sure).
