Potential malfunctions
The range at which the sensors start to meas-
ure is about:

must be kept clean and free of ice.

- Sensars have blind spots in which abjects
cannot be detected. Pay special attention

point you should stop backing up.
Please note that low objects already signalled
bya warning can disappear from the system's
detection range and will not continue to be
signalled.
If a warning buzzer sounds for a few seconds
when the ignition is switched on, there is a
system malfunctian with the acoustic park as-
sist. If the malfunction persists until the igni-
tion is switched off, there will be no acoustic
warning at the next attempt to activate the
system. Have the problem corrected.
Activation
There is no confirmation tone when reverse
gear is engaged if there is a system malfunc-
tian.
The parking assist is activated when reverse
gear is engaged. A brieftone confirms that
the system is activated.

Backing up
Distance warning when backing up starts
when an obstacle is detected in the range of
!he park assist system. As the distance de-
creases, the time interval between the audible
tones becomes shorter.
Aeoustie park assist gives a warning obout
obstocles behind the vehicle.
Description
The rear acoustic park assist (4-channel
acoustic park assist) determines the distance
of the vehicle from an obstacle using ultra-
sonic sensors. The sensors are in the rear
bumper. The volume and the pitch ofthe

To switch sport mode on, press the button
in the center console. The indicator light
turns on.

To switch sport mode off, press the button
in the center console again. The indicator
light turns on.

Tips
If there is a malfunction in the retractable
rear spoiler* or the Audi magnetic ride*, it
may not be possible to activate sport
mode.
A more agile and sporty driving style is possi-
ble when driving the vehicle in "sport mode".
This mode affects throttle response and the
sound of the engine, the steering characteris-
tics for a more direct power steering response
and the damping characteristics of the Audi
magnetic ride for dynamic suspension tuning.

Tips
The warning/indicator light

in the instru-
ment cluster comes on in the event of a
malfunction. Drive to the closest author-
ized Audi dealer as soon as possible and
have the malfunction repaired.
Damping con be adjusted to the driver's pref-
erence ond it adapts automaticolly to the eur-
rent driving situation.

Audi magnetic ride is an electronically con-
trolled damping system. This chassis system
assists the driver by adapting to the particular
situation through imperceptible control proc-
esses. The damping provides individual modu-
lation of damping forces. For example, with
damping characteristics set to provide greater
comfort, damping is set somewhat harder for
a brief period only as--required, when rounding
a curve and when braking.

Switching the system off
Presetting your speed
You con presetyour desired speed while the
vehicle is not moving.
This function makes it possible, for example,
to save the speed you want before driving on
the highway. Once on the highway, activa te
the cruise control by pulling the lever toward

Switching off completely

Switch the ignition off.
The system retains the saved speed if you de-
activate the cruise control temporarily. To re-
sume the saved speed, release the brake ped-
al and pull the lever to position

Switching the ignition off erases the saved
speed.
