22.3 Before removing the solenoid from the starter motor, detach
the starter motor terminal strap (arrow)
Clearly label, then disconnect the wires from the terminals on the

starter motor and solenoid (if mounted on the starter) (see illustra-
tion).
4 Remove the mounting bolts (see illustrations)and detach the
starter.
5 Installation is the reverse of removal.

Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery.

Remove the starter motor (see Section 21).

Disconnect the strap from the solenoid to the starter motor termi-

nal (see illustration).
Remove the screws which secure the solenoid to the starter motor

engage the flange from the starter body (see illustration).
6 Installation is the reverse of removal.
