►Scan Operator Card - Enter Yes of No depending on whether
you have a card reader and an operator card. If you select Yes
then scan the card when prompted by the instrument. If you
select no then you must enter the following information. Enter
each entry and then press Next.
►Operator Last Name
►Operator First Name
►Operator Middle Initial
►Operator Agency Code
►Summary - Review the information entered and press Save
if it is correct. Note that you must scroll through all the
information before pressing Save.
►Subject Ethnic Group - Select the subject's ethnicity from the
drop-down menu and press Next.
►Subject Driver License State - Select the state from the drop-
down menu and then press Next. If you select Washington
then you will get the option to scan the license. Select yes if
you have the license and a card reader. Scan the card when
prompted by the instrument. If you select another state or do
not wish to or are unable to scan the driver's license then the
following fields will come up. Enter the data in each filed and
then press Next.
►Subject Last Name
►Subject First Name
►Subject Middle Initial
►Subject Date of Birth (MM/DD/YYYY format)
►Subject Gender (male or female)
►Subject Driver License Number
►Summary - Review the information entered and press Save
if it is correct. Note that you must scroll through all the
information before pressing Save.
The instrument will prepare for the breath test by performing a
series of checks. Ambient air is pumped into the IR sample
chamber. An analysis is performed to ensure that the ambient
air conditions are safe for breath and standard analysis.
10.1.1 Observation Period Requirements
In order to proceed to the breath test, the observation period
requirements must have been met. The instrument will prompt:
►Observation Start Time in HH:MM: A minimum of a 15
minute observation period must be observed. - the
instrument will calculate time elapsed based on this start
time. If a minimum of 15 minutes has not been observed,
the instrument will calculate remaining time and enter into
a countdown period. Once the 15 minute observation
period is complete, the instrument will proceed.
►Operator Observed Subject Entire Time: *no invalidates test
►Subject Smoke, Vomit, Put Anything in Mouth?: *yes

10.2 Breath Test
The instrument is ready for the subject breath test when PLEASE
BLOW appears on the display. Remove the breath hose from the
storage recess. Fit a new mouthpiece onto the breath hose.
Request the person being tested to inhale deeply and blow
continuously and evenly into the mouthpiece. The bar at the
bottom of the display represents the accumulated breath volume
provided in the sample. The center of the progress bar represents
the minimum required breath volume. The frame of the volume
progress bar turns bold when all minimum breath criteria have
been met (as described below). A second breath sample will be
requested.

If the sample does not meet all of the requirements, the instrument
will display an error message, perform a purging cycle, and then
return to the PLEASE BLOW prompt.
