Warning:
For RSTP, SHP and DHP protocols, you need to set a DIP switch on the REB. You should
do this before the board and/or the product is installed. Instructions to remove and
fit component parts are provided in the Maintenance and Troubleshooting chapter of
the Technical Manual. Please refer to the appropriate chapter for the necessary
details.
5.6.1

SETTING THE NIC IP ADDRESS

If you are using IEC 61850, you set the IED IP address using the IEC 61850 Configurator software found in the
Settings Application Software. In the software the IEC 61850 IED Configurator is found by navigating through the
'Ethernet Configuration' panel on the start page. Using the IEC 61850 IED Configurator software you also need to
navigate to the Media setting and then choose either Single Copper or Redundant Fibre as this will reveal
the details needed to configure the IP address of the REB's embedded Ethernet switch.
If you are using DNP3 over Ethernet, you need to set the IED IP address using the DNP3 Configurator software. In
the Settings Application Software the DNP3 IED Configurator is found by navigating through the 'Device
Configuration' panel on the start page, and then progressing through the 'Px40/K/L/Px20 Courier' panel to the
'DNP3 Settings File' panel. Using the DNP3 Configurator software, you also need to set Ethernet Media to Copper,
as this will reveal the details needed to configure the IP address of the REB's embedded Ethernet switch.
5.6.2

SETTING THE SWITCH IP ADDRESS

The IP address of the REB embedded switch should be configured as required before connecting the IED to the
network. You do this as follows:
FOR PRP
Use the PRP Configurator in the Settings Application Software to set the IP address of the REB switch in PRP
applications.
FOR RSTP, SHP AND DHP
Use the Settings Application Software to set the first two sets of numbers in the IP address of the REB switch. The
third set is fixed at 254. To configure the fourth set you must use the DIP switch (SW2) mounted on the REB board.
