The RLX2 radio can be used as an installation tool to analyze the 802.11 environment
and provide the user with information on choosing antenna location and channel
selection.
With the radio installed and equipped with its actual antenna and configured to be a
Repeater with a Test SSID so it continuously scans, open the radio's Scan List and use it
to report information all active 802.11 radios in the area. It will report:
Each 802.11 AP heard including SSID
Actual RSSI from each given in dBm
Channel of each radio
Use this information to help choose a channel that is least utilized, or to select
appropriate antenna types and alignments to minimize interference.
Port Table
The port table is a list of all the active ports on the radio. This list shows the same
information as the Port Status (page 68) list in the RLX2 web page. Each radio has up to
252 active ports—one Ethernet cable, one parent RF link, and up to 250 child RF links.
