CHAPTER 5 TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURES

If the scanner seems to be operatng abnormally, perform the troubleshootng procedures descrbed n
ths chapter before requestng a servce call.

5.1 The scanner Is turned on but doesn't operate at all

The power cable has come loose.
The scanner s connected to a power
outlet that does not provde the rated
power supply or supply voltage.
The power outlet s not supplyng a
supply voltage.
5.2 The scanner operates improperly after connection to the computer
Is the scanner properly grounded?
Is the USB cable between the computer
and the scanner working properly?
Are you usng an USB cable not
compliant with the USB 2.0 interface?
Is an add-on USB card being used?
Is the Graphtec Network Utlty
connected?
(when using the Ethernet connection)
"Communication error" is displayed for the Graphtec Network Utility status, and connection
cannot be performed.
An abnormalty has occurred n the
network envronment.
The scanner was turned on before
power was suppled to the hub. (Wth
some hub connectons, the scanner s
not recognized if power is supplied to
the hub after t has been suppled to the
scanner.)
The scanner s n energy-savng mode.

Insert the power plug firmly.
Use only the rated power supply and supply
voltage.
Check the power supply.
Make sure that the scanner is grounded.
Determne whether there are any problems wth
ether of the cable connectors (e.g. a broken or bent
pin) and ensure that the cable is inserted firmly into
the connectors.
Ensure that you use a USB 2.0-compliant USB
cable.
USB 2.0 add-on cards are not supported. Correct
operaton s not guaranteed when the scanner s
connected to a USB port that s not the standard
bult-n computer port.
Connect the Graphtec Network Utlty.
Return the network envronment to ts normal
status.
Turn off the scanner, wat for a short tme, and then
turn t on agan.
The Ethernet interface sleeps while the scanner is
n energy-savng mode. Press one of the buttons
on the scanner's control panel to brng the scanner
out of the energy-savng mode.
