How to access PC stations outside a subnet

Communication beyond network limits
PC stations can be located in different subnets in a network. The Subnets can, for example,
be connected by routers and protected by a firewall.
You need to configure the communication paths so that the PC stations in different subnets
can communicate with each other.
● Make the settings for the configuration of the PC stations in the "SIMATIC Shell".
● If a firewall protects the networks, you need to adapt the firewall rules.
Simatic Shell
"Simatic Shell" is part of PCS 7 and is used for central maintenance and diagnostics of all PC
stations integrated in the client-server system.
Select the PC stations that should as a gateway to another subnet. In these PC stations, you
need to register a PC station of the other subnet in Simatic Shell. You need to configure the
appropriate settings on the PC station of the other subnet. The logon of the PC stations is
described in the following procedure.
