OTHER FUNCTIONS
Smart Ring and ATS (Automatic Transponder System)
Smart ring is the function to search for transceivers
to receive or transmit in the group using the same
CTCSS tone frequency.
ATS (Automatic Transponder System) is the function
to automatically search for transceivers or repeaters
to receive or transmit. When a call is received, the
called station automatically sends an answer back
signal even if the user is temporarily away from the
transceiver.
D Smart Ring
1) Set the same CTCSS tone frequency to all the
transceivers in the group. (p. 6-2)
2) Turn ON the Tone Squelch. (p. 6-2)
3) Turn ON the Function mode.
➥ Push [FUNC].
• " " is displayed.
4) Send a Smart Ring call.
➥ Hold down [MONI] for 2 seconds.
• When a member of the group answers the call, "ë"
and "FOUND" blink.
• If no answer is received, the transceiver sounds
short failure beeps and "FAILED" appears.
5) Answer the call, and stop the blinking and the
beeps.
➥ Push [PTT].
NOTE:
• You can use the Smart Ring function only if
the called station has the same CTCSS tone
frequency and is operating on the same channel.
• The setting above is for only the calling station. A
called station automatically sends an answer back
signal without any presetting. All the IC-410PROs
set to the same operating channel within the
communication area will send an answer back
call.
D ATS
1) Turn ON the Function mode.
➥ Push [FUNC].
• " " is displayed.
2) Turn ON the ATS function.

Questions and answers
I have the ic-41 pro. I can transmit but no longer receive. I’m not aware of any settings changing. I’m using ch15. The screen shows sql , q and below that. OS S in black squares
Your Icom IC-410PRO may be able to transmit but not receive on channel 15 due to one or more of the following reasons:
1. Quiet Mode (Selcall or Tone Squelch) is ON – If Quiet Mode is enabled, the radio will not unmute unless it receives the correct Selcall or tone. Turn OFF Quiet Mode in the Set mode.
2. Tone Squelch setting mismatch – If the tone squelch is set incorrectly or does not match the other radios, you will not hear incoming transmissions. Set the correct tone squelch setting for the user group.
3. Squelch level is set too high – If the squelch level is too high, weak signals may be blocked. Decrease the squelch level in the Set mode.
4. Monitor function is OFF – If the Monitor function is OFF, you might not hear transmissions that don’t match the squelch settings. Press [MONI] to temporarily open the squelch and check for incoming signals.
Check and adjust these settings to restore receiving capability on channel 15.
