GENERAL INFORMATION

This instruction manual contains instructions on how to install, configure and use the URMET Domus 1093/100 VPR
(Video Phone Recorder).
1.1

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The VPR is a digital PC-platform based video recording running Linux operating system; it can record the video of up to
four cameras on an internal hard disk and manage various types of connections (PSTN, ISDN, ADSL, LAN, GRPS,
EDGE, UMTS).

Four composite video input channels
One VGA monitor video output
Eight alarm sensor inputs and eight relay outputs (with optional GPIO board ref. 1093/105)
RS-485 connection for speed-dome control (with optional USB/RS-485 converter ref. 1093/106)
One Ethernet port for LAN/WAN connection
Eight USB ports (seven USB ports, if optional GPIO board ref. 1093/105 is fitted)
One mouse (PS2) for local system control
Video recordings and transmissions in Mpeg-4 format
Alarm warning via e-mail and SMS text messages
Video transmission to mobile phone (GPRS, EDGE, UMTS)
Wake-up function (with optional PSTN analogue modem ref. 1093/107)
Recording backup to USB/LAN/DVD (with optional DVD burner ref. 1093/109)
1.2

OPENING THE BOX

Check that the packing and the contents are not visibly damaged. Contact the retailer immediately if parts are either
missing or damaged. Do not attempt to use the device in this case. Send the product back in its original packing if it is
damaged.

1.3

WARNINGS

1.3.1

POWER

This device must be powered from the 230Vac 50Hz electrical mains only.
Although the device is programmed to restore normal working conditions following a sudden power blackout, do
not switch the device on and off by pulling out the plug. Use the on/off button on the front panel, as shown in
chapter 3.
1.3.2

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Keep the device away from rain and humidity to prevent risk of fire and electrocution. Do not introduce material
(solid or liquid) inside. If this should accidentally occur, disconnect the device from the mains and have it
inspected by qualified personnel.
Never open the device. In all cases, contact a qualified personnel or authorised service centre for repairs.
Keep the device away from children, to prevent accidental damage.
Do not touch the device with wet hands to prevent electrical shock or mechanical damage.
Do not use the device if it should fall or the external casing is damaged. Risk of electrocution if the device is
used in such conditions. Contact the retailer or authorised installer.
1.3.3

INSTALLATION PRECAUTIONS

At least 5 centimetres of free space around the ventilation vents are required to allow a suitable flow of air
needed to cool internal components.
To prevent overheating the device, arrange it in a position allowing the flow of air through the slots in the casing.
For the same reason, do not install sources of heat, such as radiators or hot air ducts. Keep away from direct
sunlight. Do not install in areas subject to excessive dust, mechanical vibrations or shocks.
Do not arrange this device on an unstable surface, such as a tottering or slanted table. The device could fall
causing injury or mechanical failures.
