Replacing the Mower-Deck
Belts
For Models with a 102 cm Deck
Important: The fasteners on the covers of this machine
are designed to remain on the cover after removal.
Loosen all of the fasteners on each cover a few turns
so that the cover is loose but still attached, then go
back and loosen them until the cover comes free. This
prevents you from accidentally stripping the bolts free
of the retainers.
Replacing the Right Mower-Deck Belt
1. Disengage the PTO and set the parking brake.
2. Shut off the engine, remove the key, and wait for all
moving parts to stop before leaving the operating
position.
3. Loosen the bolts and remove the belt covers with the
bolts attached to them.
4. Remove the spring from the anchor post on the
idler-pulley arm (Figure

6. Install the new mower belt around the deck pulleys and
idler pulley (Figure
7. Install the spring onto the anchor post on the
idler-pulley arm (Figure
8. Install the belt covers onto the mower deck and secure
the bolts.

Replacing the Left Mower-Deck Belt
1. Disengage the PTO and set the parking brake.
2. Shut off the engine, remove the key, and wait for all
moving parts to stop before leaving the operating
position.
3. Loosen the bolts and remove the belt covers with the
bolts attached to them.
4. To remove the left mower belt, the right mower belt
needs to be removed first; refer to
Mower-Deck Belt (page
5. Remove the spring from the anchor post on the
idler-pulley arm
6. Remove the worn mower belt
7. Install the new mower belt around the deck pulleys, the
clutch pulley, and the idler pulley
8. Install the spring onto the anchor post
9. Install the right mower belt; refer to
Right Mower-Deck Belt (page
10. Install the belt covers onto the mower deck and secure
the bolts.
