3.17 Head Cleaning

3.17.1 Function Description

This function cleans the heads in the FDD by executing a series of head load/seek and read opera-
tions. A cleaning kit is necessary to execute this function.

3.17.2 Operations

1. Select the Head Cleaning function by typing 4 from the DIAGNOSTICS MENU and press-
ing Enter. The following message is displayed.
DIAGNOSTICS - FLOPPY DISK HEAD CLEANING : Vx.xx
Mount cleaning disk(s) on drive(s).
Press any key when ready.
2. Remove the Diagnostic Disk from the FDD. Then insert the cleaning disk and press Enter.
3. When the Cleaning start message appears, the FDD head cleaning has begun.
4. The display automatically returns to the DIAGNOSTICS MENU when the function is
completed.
