On-Vehicle ServiceCamshaft
Position (CMP) Sensor
Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the engine cover.
3. Remove the common chamber assembly.
Refer to Common Chamber in Engine Mechanical
section.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector to the CMP
sensor.
5. Remove the CMP retaining bolt from the side of left
cylinder head.
6. Remove the CMP sensor from the cylinder head.
Inspection Procedure
1. Inspect the sensor O-ring for cracks or leaks.
2. Replace the O-ring if it is worn or damaged.
3. Lubricate the new O-ring with engine oil.
4. Install the lubricated O-ring.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the CMP sensor in the cylinder head.
2. Install the CMP sensor retaining bolt.
Tighten
D Tighten the retaining screw to 9 N·m (78 lb in.).
3. Connect the electrical connector to the CMP sensor.

4. Install the common chamber assembly.

section.

5. Install the engine cover.
6. Connect the negative battery cable.
