CHECKS AND INSPECTIONS
1 . C h e c k
components
against excessive wear and other
damages.
Check, in particular, surface con-
ditions of the lever coupling bush to
support, and wear conditions of pawl
teeth and scroll gear.
2. Check against presence of elec-
tric cable discontinuity and that
parking brake indicator switch is
properly
functioning.
3 . R e p l a c e w o r n o r f a u l t y c o m -
ponents.

2. Unscrew bolt @ securing the
lever to its relevant support @ and
separate the two components.

the pin from its seat.
4. Separate from lever the whole
block of ratchet gear control with

5. If necessary, remove switch of
the parking brake indicator from

brake support.

REASSEMBLY
visually
For reassembly of the support and
lever unit,
assembly and, in particular comply
with the following:
ratchet gear components with speci-
fied grease (AGIP Fl Grease @or
SHELL Retinax Gll).
2. Tighten to specified torque of
9 t 15 N.m
(6.51 f 10.84 ft.lb) bolt hinging lever
to brake support.

REINSTALLATION
T o r e i n s t a l l c o n t r o l l e v e r w i t h
support, reverse the order of removal
and complying with the following:
1.
Apply a coat of specified grease
R e t i n a x Gll) t o s u r f a c e s w h e r e
cables slide in the incovered section
and to fork adjusting screw.
2. Carry out parking brake adjusT-
ment (see: Group 00 Chassis and
Body Maintenance).

CONTROL CABLES

REMOVAL
1 . O p e r a t i n g f r o m t h e d r i v e r s
compartment remove rear console
a n d , b y o p e r a t i n g l o c k n u t a n d
n u t o f a d j u s t m e n t f o r k l o o s e n
control cables and withdraw them
from equalizer.
2. Remove rear wheel and drum
together with hub (see: Group 25 -
Rear Hub - Removal).
3. Operating on wheel side release
control cable end @ from lever @
f a i r - l e a d @.
and
free

shoe holder 0, withdraw it from
this last and remove it after releasing

CHECKS AND INSPECTIONS
Make sure that control cables are
sound; replace them if necessary.
