3. PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Front Panel RJ-45 Ports and LEDS

The NetVanta 7100 front panel contains 24 10/100BaseT Ethernet ports (RJ-45). These ports are
consecutively numbered 1 through 24, from left to right, with the numbers screened directly above each
port. Status LEDs for each of these ports are located directly over these numbers. (Refer to Figure 1.) The
NetVanta 7100 has red and green PoE status LEDs located in the upper right and upper left corners
(respectively) of each of the Ethernet connectors.

Front Panel Gigabit Ethernet Interfaces and LEDs

In addition to the 10/100 Ethernet ports, the NetVanta 7100 front panel contains two Gigabit Ethernet
interfaces. These interfaces are provided as RJ-45 jacks and SPDIF sockets. These interfaces are labeled
and , and their status LEDs are located above these labels.

Other Front Panel LEDs

The LED, which indicates the unit's status, is located to the lower left of RJ-45 port 1. The

NetVanta 7100 also contains LEDs labeled and which reflect the status of an installed
SLOT 1 SLOT 2
NIM/VIM. Table 1 on page 22 describes all of these LEDs, and Appendix A shows the pinouts for the
connectors.
