hard quota limit for the directory tree has been exceeded, NDMP cannot create a temporary
file and the restore operation fails.
NDMP does not support the case-insensitivity property in a file system or a directory within a
file system and will not back up a file system with this property enabled. As a result, after
restoring a file system, the case-insensitivity property is not restored to directories on the file
system. This is the expected behavior. If case-insensitivity is required after a restore, you must
explicitly set the property on the parent folder of the restore location.

Configuring NDMP parameters on the cluster

Certain NDMP parameters must be configured to enable communications between the DMA and
the NDMP Servers in the cluster. To configure the parameters on the GUI, select Cluster Configuration
from the Navigator, and then select NDMP Backup. The NDMP Configuration Summary shows the
default values for the parameters. Click Modify to configure the parameters for your cluster on the
Configure NDMP dialog box.
Available parameters are:
Field
Enable NDMP sessions
Minimum Port Number
Maximum Port Number
Listener Port Number
Username
Password
Log Level
TCP Window Size (Bytes)
Concurrent Sessions
DMA IP Addresses
Description
To allow new NDMP sessions to be created on the cluster, select Yes. To
prevent DMAs from accessing the cluster, select No.
When an NDMP session is initiated, the NDMP Server creates temporary
socket ports for communications with the DMA. Specify the minimum port
number that can be used for these sessions. The default is 49,152, and the
minimum allowed value is 1,024.
When an NDMP session is initiated, the NDMP Server creates temporary
socket ports for communications with the DMA. Specify the maximum port
number that can be used for these sessions. The default value is 65,535.
This is also the maximum allowed value.
The port that the NDMP Server listens on for NDMP session requests. The
default port is 10,000. The range of values is 1,024 to 65,535.
The username that must be provided when any DMA attempts to connect the
cluster.
The password for the DMA user.
The level of log verbosity. This value should be set to 0, the default. The level
should be increased only under the direction of HP Support.
The window size allowed for data transfers. This value should be changed
only for performance reasons. The default value is 160,000.
The maximum number of NDMP sessions that can run at the same time, per
NDMP server. The default value is 128. The range of values is 0 to 256.
The IP addresses that can be used by a DMA to access the cluster. You can
add or delete addresses from the list.
