Table 10-3 (Cont.). Self-Test Error Messages for the Base System Slot
The message indicates that a memory module does not read and write
values correctly. If this type of message appears, copy the entire
message and call your system manager or Customer Support Center.
mem/float10
A part of the memory module failed to read and write a one and zero
pattern. Copy the entire message and call your system manager or
Customer Support Center.
mem/init
The system could not write a pattern of zeros to the memory module.
Copy the entire message and call your system manager or Customer
Support Center.
mem/select
The workstation could not read and write a pattern to a memory
module correctly. Copy the entire message and call your system
manager or Customer Support Center.
misc/halt
The halt button or the built-in halt program is faulty. Copy the entire
message and call your system manager or Customer Support Center.
misc/kbd
The keyboard, keyboard cable, or keyboard connectors are faulty. To
make sure that the cable is connected properly, see Chapter 2, ''To
Connect the Keyboard to the Connector Block'', on page 2-18. Then
turn the system unit off and on again. If the test message is displayed
again, try replacing first the keyboard cable and then the keyboard. If
the message is still displayed, copy the entire message and call your
system manager or Customer Support Center.
misc/mouse
The mouse, mouse cable, or mouse connector is faulty. Make sure
that the cable is connected properly, see Chapter 2, ''To Connect the
Mouse or Tablet to the Connector Block'', on page 2-19. Then turn the
system unit off and on again If the message appears again, replace the
mouse. If your workstation is connected to a network, disconnect from
the network, attach the loopback connector, and retry the test. If the
message still appears, copy the entire message and call your system
manager or Customer Support Center.
misc/pstemp
The flow of air through the system unit is inadequate, or the
temperature in your office is more than 104°F (40°C). Make sure
that there is at least 4 inches (10 cm) between the vents in the system
unit cover and other items on your worktable. Then turn the system
unit off, wait a moment, and turn it on. If the message appears again,
turn off the system unit, copy the entire message, and call your system
manager or Customer Support Center.
misc/wbpart
The CPU module or system memory is faulty. Copy the entire message
and call your system manager or Customer Support Center.
