engines. I n C alifornia, n ew e quipment t hat u se s mall o ff-­road e ngines m ust b e d esigned, b uilt, a nd e quipped t o m eet
the S tate's s tringent a nti-­smog s tandards. M AKITA m ust w arrant t he e missions c ontrol s ystem o n y our s mall o ff-­road
(equipment t ype) e ngine f or t he p eriod l isted b elow p rovided t here h as b een n o a buse, n eglect o r i mproper m aintenance
of y our e quipment.
Your e missions c ontrol s ystem m ay i nclude p arts s uch a s: c arburetors o r f uel i njection s ystem, i gnition s ystem, c atalytic
converters, f uel t anks, v alves, fi lters, c lamps, c onnectors, a nd o ther a ssociated components. A lso, i ncluded m ay b e
hoses, b elts, c onnectors, s ensors, a nd o ther e mission-­related a ssemblies.

you i ncluding d iagnosis, p arts a nd l abor.
MANUFACTURER'S W ARRANTY C OVERAGE:
This e missions c ontrol s ystem i s w arranted f or t wo y ears. I f a ny e missions-­related p art o n y our e quipment i s d efective,
the p art w ill b e r epaired o r r eplaced b y M AKITA.
OWNER'S W ARRANTY R ESPONSIBILITIES:
• As the small off-­road (equipment type) engine owner, you are responsible for performance of the required main-­
tenance listed in your owner's manual. MAKITA recommends that you retain all receipts covering maintenance on
your s mall o ff-­road ( equipment t ype) e ngine, b ut M AKITA c annot d eny w arranty s olely f or t he l ack o f r eceipts o r y our
failure to ensure the performance of all scheduled maintenance.
• As t he s mall o ff-­road ( equipment t ype) e ngine o wner, y ou s hould h owever b e a ware t hat M AKITA m ay d eny y ou w ar-­
ranty c overage i f y our s mall o ff-­road ( equipment t ype) e ngine o r a p art h as f ailed d ue t o a buse, n eglect, o r i mproper
maintenance o r u napproved m odifications.
You a re r esponsible f or p resenting y our s mall o ff-­road ( equipment t ype) e ngine t o a M AKITA d istribution c enter o r s ervice
center a s s oon a s t he p roblem e xists. T he w arranty r epairs s hould b e c ompleted i n a r easonable a mount o f t ime, n ot
to e xceed 3 0 d ays. I f y ou h ave a q uestion r egarding y our w arranty c overage, y ou s hould c ontact t he M AKITA W arranty

DEFECTS W ARRANTY R EQUIREMENTS:
(a) The w arranty p eriod b egins o n t he d ate t he e ngine o r e quipment i s d elivered t o a n u ltimate p urchaser.
(b) General E missions W arranty C overage. M AKITA w arrants t o t he u ltimate o wner a nd e ach s ubsequent o wner
that t he s mall o ff-­road e ngine o r e quipment i s:
(1) D esigned, b uilt, a nd e quipped s o a s t o c onform w ith a ll a pplicable r egulations a dopted b y t he A ir R esources
Board; and
(2) Free from defects in materials and workmanship that causes the failure of a warranted part for a period of two
years.
(c) T he w arranty o n e missions-­related p arts w ill b e i nterpreted a s f ollows:
(1) A ny w arranted p art t hat i s n ot s cheduled f or r eplacement a s r equired m aintenance i n t he w ritten i nstructions
required by subsection (d) must be warranted for the warranty period defined in Subsection (b)(2). If any such
part f ails d uring t he p eriod o f w arranty c overage, i t m ust b e r epaired o r r eplaced b y t he m anufacturer a ccording t o
Subsection ( 4) b elow. A ny s uch p art r epaired o r r eplaced u nder t he w arranty m ust b e w arranted f or t he r emaining
warranty period.
