Troubleshooting charts

The system temperature has
exceeded the maximum rating.
The server is operating in a
nonredundant power mode. Two
or more power supplies are
installed in the server, and either
one power supply has failed or
the server has has reached a
condition in which it is no longer
operating in redundant mode.
The server is drawing more power
than the power supplies are rated
for. Only one power supply is
installed in the server.
The first power supply has failed.
The second power supply has
failed.
The third power supply has failed. Replace the third power supply.
The Light Path Diagnostics have
not detected a system error.
You can use the troubleshooting charts in this section to find solutions to problems
that have definite symptoms.
If you cannot find the problem in the troubleshooting charts, go to "Starting the
diagnostic programs" on page 135 to test the server. If you have run the diagnostic
test programs or if running the tests does not reveal the problem, call for service.
Look for the symptom in the left column of the chart. Instructions and probable
solutions to the problem are in the right column. If you have just added new software
or a new option and your server is not working, do the following before using the
troubleshooting charts:
Remove the software or device that you just added.
Run the diagnostic tests to determine if your server is running correctly.
Reinstall the new software or new device.
Cause
1. Check to see if a fan has failed.
2. Make sure the room
If the problem persists, have the
system serviced.
If a power supply has failed,
replace the failing power supply.
If not, add a power supply to
ensure redundancy.
Either add a power supply or
remove a device from the server.
Replace the first power supply.
Replace the second power supply.
