GENERAL
The
JOLLIET
J.E.2
emergency
locator
transmits
radio
beacon
signals
simultaneously
on
the
international
distress
frequencies
(121.5
MHz
and
243.0
MHz)
to
aid
helicopter
search
and
rescue
operations.
The
unit
operates
automatically
in
the
event
of
crash
impact.
It
may be
operated
manually
by means
of
a switch
on the
transmitter
front
panel,
or
by means
of
a remote
control
switch.

2 COMPONENT
lOCATIONS
-A
locator
beacon
is
attached
to
the
structure
and
is
located
inside
the
rear
luggage
bay.
-A
beacon
location
label
is
attached
to
the
outside
of
the
aircraft.
-A
control
switch
is
fitted
underneath
the
instrument
panel
on the
pilot's
side.
-An
antenna
is
located
on the
tail
boom.
-A
label
fitted
close
to
the
switch
reads:
EMERGENCY lOCATOR TRANSMITTER
AVIATION
EMERGENCY USE ONLY

CHECKING
PROCEDUR~

Pre-fliaht
Insoection
Beneath
the
instrument
panel:
-Check
that
remote
control
switch
is
set
to
"AUTO".

On transmitter:
-For
old
generation
locator
beacons:
.check
that
the
switch
is
set
to
"AUTO".
.press
in
the
"RESET"
pushbutton.
-For
new generation
(NG)
locator
beacons:
.set
the
switch
to
"OFF/RST"
for
2 to
3 seconds,
.set
the
switch
back
to
"AUTO".
