6. Tighten the camshaft cap bolts "1" to the
specified torque in the order [1], [2], and so
on.
TIP:
Do not turn the camshafts when measuring the
camshaft journal oil clearance using the Plasti-
gauge.

16 Nm (1.6 kgf·m, 11.8 ft·lb)
7. Remove the camshaft caps, and then
measure the width of the Plastigauge "1".

Timing chain tensioner check

1. While pushing the timing chain tensioner
rod "a", turn the timing chain tensioner
housing "b" in direction "c" until the groove
"d" in the tensioner rod is aligned with the
snap ring "e".
2. While squeezing the ends of the snap ring
"e" so that it fits into the groove "d" in the
timing chain tensioner rod "a", release the
tensioner rod slowly until it is locked in
place.
TIP:
Make sure that the timing chain tensioner rod
"a" is locked in place before releasing the snap
ring "e".

3. Push the timing chain tensioner rod slight-
ly. Check that the snap ring releases the
timing chain tensioner rod, allowing the
tensioner rod to pop out.

Camshaft sprocket installation

1. Install the exhaust camshaft sprocket and
intake camshaft sprocket.
TIP:
• Install each camshaft sprocket with the
punch mark "a" facing outward.
