Intake grate
NOTICE
If the cause of overheating cannot be
found and corrected, take special precau-
tions to avoid major engine damage while
you return to shore.
If getting a tow from another vessel is not
possible, operate engine just slightly
above idle while you return to shore. If you
can be towed, refer to "Towing the boat"
on page 124.
TIP:
Press the M button on the multi-function ta-
chometer to stop the buzzer.
Engine oil pressure low warning
If the oil pressure does not rise to specifica-
tion, "
Low Oil Pressure" will appear on the
LCD and the buzzer will sound. At the same
time, the engine speed is automatically limited
to help prevent damage. If this occurs, reduce
the engine speed, return to shore or maneu-
ver to a safe location, and check the engine oil
level (see page 75 for engine oil level check-
ing procedures). If the oil level is low, add
enough engine oil to raise it to the proper lev-
el. If the oil level is sufficient, have a Yamaha
Boat Dealer check the engine.

Instrument operation
Check engine warning
If an engine sensor malfunction or a short cir-
cuit is detected, "
on the LCD and the buzzer will sound. If this
occurs, reduce the engine speed, return to
shore, and have a Yamaha Boat Dealer
check the engine.
Low/high battery voltage warning
If "System Battery Voltage Error" appears on
the LCD and the buzzer will sound, check the
battery connections. If the battery connec-
tions are clean and tight and the warning indi-
cation continues, have a Yamaha Boat Dealer
check the charging system.
Low fuel level warning
If "
Low Fuel Level" appears on the LCD of
the multi-function tachometer, refill the fuel
tank as soon as possible. (See page 74 for in-
formation on filling the fuel tank.)
Communication error warning
If a communication error is detected for a sen-
sor or other device, one of the following warn-
ing messages will appear on the LCD:
Engine Communication Error
●
Speed Communication Error
●
If this occurs, reduce the engine speed, return
to shore, and have a Yamaha Boat Dealer
check the boat.
