TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
Symptom: Emitting Loud Noise
NOTE: Exercise Bike machinery may resonate louder upon hard surfaces than upon carpeted or matted surfaces.
Symptom
During exercise program,
loud noise issuing from
Exercise Bike.
Probable Cause
Non-carpeted, hard surface
floor
Improper riding style
Crank Bearings not adjusted
properly or, worn
Alternator Belt excessively
loose
Alternator Belt worn
Malfunctioning Alternator
Drive Belt excessively loose
Free-wheel Pulley Assembly
Corrective Action
Place Exercise Bike upon softer surfaced floor.
Change style. Do not lean excessively to either
side.
Inspect Bearings. Adjust or replace as
necessary.
Inspect belt deflection. Adjust as necessary.
Alternator Belt Deflection: 1/4 inch (6mm)
Replace Belt.
Operate Exercise Bike as in normal use with
light and heavy load levels. Listen for excessive
noise from Alternator. Replace Alternator as
necessary.
Inspect Belt. Replace Belt.
Inspect clutch for free rotation. Replace
defective Freewheel Pulley Assembly.
