Checking the hard disk
Check the hard disk.
This operation must be done when the hard disk is incor-
porated in the computer or hard disk unit.
Check the model number of the board used, and check
the hard disk by following the procedure given.
When AHA-3940UWD is the SCSI board used
1. Power On.
2. Appear next comment when Boot Up.

3. Quickly press [Ctrl]+[A] keys when appear this com-
ment.
4. Run SCSI Utility and appear next window.
Use arrow key, select Channel(A or B), and press
[Enter] key.
5. Appear Menu window.
Select "SCSI Disk Utilities", and press [Enter] key.
Check the connected SCSI devices.

6. Appear a list of the connected SCSI devices.
(When ST34371W made by SEAGATE is connected to
ID=1)
If the devices actually connected are at variance
with what is listed, a wrong connection, SCSI ID set-
ting error, terminal setting error or defective hard
disk may be to blame. Press [ESC] key to exit.
First, check the connections and the SCSI ID and
terminal settings. If the message remains, a defec-
tive hard disk may be to blame.
If what is listed matches with the devices actually
connected, use the arrow keys to move the cursor,
select the hard disk to be checked, and press
[Enter] key.
7. Appear the following menu.
Move the cursor, select "Verify Disk Media," and
press [Enter] key.
If the "Unexpected SCSI Command Failure" message
is displayed, a SCSI ID setting error, terminal setting
error or defective hard disk may be to blame. Press
[ESC] key to exit.
First, check the SCSI ID and terminal settings, etc.
If the message remains, a defective hard disk may
be to blame. Select "Support for Ultra SCSI Speed",
press [Enter] key
