2.5 Pre-Installation Checklist

Prior to beginning installation of the IFD5XX, complete the following pre-installation
checklist. This checklist will help in determining installation requirements. If the Installation
Items below are not complete, additional installation approval may be required.
Installation Item
Is the aircraft on the Avidyne STC Approved
Model List?
Is IFD5XX replacing an existing
GPS/NAV/COM used for Part 91/135
(TAWS) compliance?
Can the IFD5XX tray be installed per the
data in this manual?
Navigation(s) Antenna Installed
Communication Antenna Installed
Is the IFD5XX, or remote annunciator lights,
installed within the Pilot's Field of View?
Does the aircraft have an approved GPS
antenna installed on the aircraft? Or, can the
GPS antenna be installed per this manual?
Does the aircraft have a previously approved
Marker Beacon System installed in the
aircraft? (Not needed for VFR installations)
Does the aircraft have a second NAV or
COMM installed?
Does the aircraft have a sufficient electrical
power for the IFD5XX installation?
Does the installation location comply with
the Environmental Testing of the IFD5XX
unit?
Does the Airplane Flight Manual
Supplement adequately cover the
installation?
