9.2.1 Default Policy Configuration

In the Firewall > General screen, click Add or click an entry's Edit icon to configure a firewall
policy.

DESCRIPTION
Select this check box to activate the firewall. The Device performs access control
and protects against Denial of Service (DoS) attacks when the firewall is
activated.
This displays the index number of the default firewall policy.
This field displays whether a policy is turned on or not. Select the check box to
enable the policy. Clear the check box to disable the policy.
This displays the name of the policy.
This displays the LAN or WAN interface(s) to which this policy is applied.
This displays the direction of travel of packets (In and Out).
Firewall rules are grouped based on the direction of travel of packets to which
they apply.
This displays the default action that the firewall is to take on packets that are
traveling in the selected direction and do not match any of the firewall rules.
Drop: the Device silently discards the packets without sending a TCP reset
packet or an ICMP destination-unreachable message to the sender.
Permit: the Device allows the passage of the packets.
Click the Edit icon to go to the screen where you can edit the rule.
Click the Remove icon to delete an existing rule. Note that subsequent rules
move up by one when you take this action.
Click Add to create a new policy.
Click Apply to save your changes back to the Device.
