Using the Menus and Keys

This machine has a menu system that you use to specify or register various
settings. These settings allow you to customize the way your machine operates.
This section provides a brief overview on how to use the control panel keys to
open menus, make selections, and register data.

General Guidelines for Registering Information

Always keep these points in mind while you are using the menus:
• If you pause and do not press a key for two minutes, the machine returns to the
Standby mode automatically. You must then start the procedure from the
beginning. You can use the <AUTO CLEAR> setting to change this time-frame.
(See Chapter 4, "Timer Settings," in the Reference Guide.)
• If your machine is set to manually receive, and the machine rings while you are
registering information, pick up the handset. If you hear a slow beep tone, the
sender is trying to send you a document. Press [Stop]
document.

Using the Menus

This section describes how to display and operate the menus from the control
panel. The content and purpose of each menu is described later. (See "Additional
Functions Fax Settings," on p. 6-4.)
