Cannot receive a document manually.
Cause
You may have disconnected the call by pressing [Start] or dialing the remote receiving
ID after hanging up the handset.
Remedy 1
Always press [Start] or dial the remote receiving ID before hanging up the handset.
Otherwise, you will disconnect the call.
Remedy 2
When your telephone line uses rotary pulse dialing, switch to tone dialing on your
telephone before dialing 25 (the remote receiving ID).
Print quality is poor.
Cause 1
You may not be using the correct type of paper.
Remedy
Make sure you load paper that meets the paper requirements for the machine. (See
Chapter 2, "Document Handling," in the Reference Guide.)
Cause 2
The sending fax machine may not be functioning properly.
Remedy
The sending fax machine usually determines the fax's quality. Call the sender and have
them make sure the scanning glass on their fax machine is clean.
Cause 3
ECM (Error Correction Mode) may be disabled.
Remedy
Make sure ECM is on. (See "RX Settings," on p. 6-10.)
Faxes do not print.
Cause 1
The drum or toner cartridge may not be installed properly.
Remedy
Make sure the drum or toner cartridge is installed properly. (See Chapter 5, "Routine
Maintenance," in the Reference Guide.)
Cause 2
The toner in the toner cartridge may be low.
Remedy 1
Replace the toner cartridge if necessary. (See Chapter 5, "Routine Maintenance," in
the Reference Guide.)
Remedy 2
Select <KEEP PRINTING> from the TONER SUPPLY LOW function. The machine will
print up to 80 pages of the document. (See "Printer Settings," on p. 6-11.)
Cause 3
The waste toner in the drum unit is full.
Remedy
Call your local authorized Canon dealer, and replace it with a new one.
Cause 4
No paper may be loaded in the paper drawer.
Remedy
Make sure that paper is loaded in the paper drawer.
